Key distinctions and similarities between vocational rehabilitation and disability management
Vocational rehabilitation (VR) and disability management (DM) share a common intended outcome. That is both are aimed at enhancing the employment rates of people with disabilities in a society. Unlike DM, which emerged in the 1980s, VR has a long history, stretching back to the early 20th century. It is legitimate to question whether in a context where DM was operating to maximum effectiveness and efficiency whether there would still be a need for a VR service. This discussion exercise is aimed at tapping into this question and prompting you to consider the relationship between VR and DM.
For your first substantive post, select one of the themes below:
Three key distinctions between VR and DM;
Three core distinctions between the role and responsibilities of a DM and a VR professional, and;
Three activities or competences that are common to both professions.
