In different areas of life, there have been concerns over prejudice. Such concerns emanate from the realization that; prejudice easily leads to low productivity due to low morale that comes to take place when there are incidences of prejudice. In addressing the issue of prejudice, there is a realization that contact conditions could lead to a reduction of prejudice. Aronson,Wilson & Akert (2013) assert that; applicability of conditions of contact may differ with different situations. There are generally six conditions of contact whose application can reduce prejudice.
The background of the contact hypothesis plays a major role in reducing prejudice. This aspect points to the grounds on which the contact is anchored. Contact hypothesis or what is referred to as group hypothesis is another condition of contact that points towards reducing prejudice. This condition points to beliefs towards the different groups. Aronson,Wilson & Akert (2013) note that; contact hypothesis is another condition of contract that helps to reduce prejudice. This point denotes the perceived equality of the different groups of people.
According to Aronson,Wilson & Akert (2013) intergroup contact is another condition of contact that must always be addressed to enhance reduction of prejudice. Balance of the contract is another condition. This is whereby; there is sensitivity in terms of gender, age as well as other demographic factors. Stereotype suppression is another condition of contact that can reduce prejudice. There must be deliberate efforts to ensure that stereotypes are no held to the extent of destroying contacts hence, increased prejudice.
