U.S. Brain-gain Cities and the People Migrating to Them

Brain gain cities are dominated by the immigration of educated people such as scientists, technologists, academics. The immigrants are driven by better pay, favorable working conditions, and better equipment. These cities are vibrant and have pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods with healthy social life (Harden, 2003). The majority of the immigrants of these cities are young educated folks. Examples of the towns affected include; Austin, Atlanta, Boston, Minneapolis, Washington, Denver, San Diego, Raleigh, and Durham, N.C. In my state, brain gain cities are rapidly rising.
The major type of businesses that recruit in the brain gain cities is high-tech, manufacturing, construction industry alongside service provider businesses. The music industry is also among the booming businesses in brain gain cities (Harden, 2003). However, some towns are losing on the brain gain trend due to the size and nature of their population, which Herden terms as continuously churning.
