Question 1
During the era before the technological evolution, people only thought that computers would only be used by academics. Other people thought computers would be a dumb idea because of features such as games. Nowadays, networks keep users busy, not vice versa. The majority of the world’s population has access to computers and internet connection. Furthermore, more people are gaining access to computers and electronic devices with each passing day. This revolution brings different changes in terms of communication, the rise of new cultures as well as psyches. The literature will contemplate on the online life and its effects.
It is rare to find people, especially teenagers, who do not have electronic devices. Those that we meet are mostly glued to their mobile phones and computers while giggling or laughing. This shows that most people find a company on the internet, but the pressure of performance is always more than the concentration of the individual (Turkle, 2011). Most of the things that people often pay so much attention to are virtual and often hides the real world from the users who spend most time speaking to strangers and people who most probably will never meet in reality.
The bitter truth about ties that such ties formed on the internet and on computers do not bind. Rather, they preoccupy. This is much significant in essential gatherings such as family dinners where texting is done instead of spending quality time with the family members. When people are busy texting, we often do not want to disturb them but directly, but instead, we intrude but not in real-time. Turkle’s in The Alone Together gives instances of interviews where teenager agrees that mobile phone has taken the better parts of them and they would hardly do without it.
There are different results of developing the online culture in real society. The main effect is the internet addition. There is no limit to how much each individual can use the internet; therefore, people use it until their necks ache (Turkle, 2011). Furthermore, new content is being uploaded each day and in large quantities, even as we speak. Internet addi...
