The Mapp v. Ohio case of 1961 is one of the Supreme Court cases that has had a significant impact on American society. The case involved Dollree Mapp, a Cleveland resident accused of harboring a fugitive. In 1957, the Cleveland police entered Mapp's house without a warrant and searched the property to find evidence linking her to the said crime. During the search, the police discovered obscene books, which they arrested her for. After Mapp's case was heard, she was convicted. However, the ruling was overturned by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court determined that Mapp's Fourth Amendment rights had been violated.
