My advanced practice method concentration is community practice and development. In this field, I mainly focus on exploring diverse interventions, gaining and exhibiting social practice skills, appreciating diversity among communities, critically analyzing community needs, enabling the formation of effective intelligence service collaborations, and establishing appropriate interventions. My current placement is at PEARL. PEARL is dedicated to bridging cultures and advocating culturally secure social policies and assistance to Asian and Southeast Asian Islanders population in the U.S., Pacific Rim areas, and even beyond, inspired by ideals of global social equality, independence, and competence. They combine European evidence-based knowledge and concepts with Eastern philosophy and traditional Chinese medicine comprehensive treatment practices.
The importance of this field is that it helps to eradicate social inequality and oppression. Inequality and oppression are twice likely to affect mental health than physical health. Inequality and oppression are linked with mental issues such as depression, stress anxiety, and emotional distress. Therefore, this field plays an essential role in the field of health and mental health. In this program, a social worker has various functions. First, they have a role in appreciating diversity; this is because it requires them to examine other backgrounds and increase awareness of personal assumptions, values, stereotypes, and prejudice. Therefore, during this program, it will be mandatory for social workers to be aware of personal values, beliefs, and biases that influence the interaction relationship with the participants. The program is operated by a certified corporate specialist who is a member of primary cooperation. The program's primary supporters are Amazon, the program is also linked to direct support, and individuals and well-wishers can donate.
A central policy that is likely to undermine this program is the American Public policy. The policy, although it might seem obsolete, it still exists. For decades, government and individual citizens have used exclusionary tactics to divide peoples of different diversities. Government action and inaction continue to undercut the profitability of social policies, whether through formal policy decisions or a repeated failure to establish and enforce civil rights laws.
