Background History and Membership
1 Identify the leaders/founders of the terrorist organization and briefly include their personal background, education, and experience – hit the relevant highlights, this does not require a detailed biography. Describe, diagram, or explain the organization hierarchy. For Lone Wolves, describe their background, education, experience, and the environment they lived and/or worked in.
1 The lone wolf in question is known as Hoda Muthana. She is a daughter to two Yemeni parents and was born in 1994. She lived her early life in the U.S. until she decided to join ISIS in Syria in 2014 (Robinson, 2021). She was 20 when she abandoned her family, and she had just graduated high school. This was a shock to the entire family because the parents did not harbor any extremist views or showed any sympathy to the terrorist groups. However, as Elbein (2020) indicates, after almost six years in Syria, Muthana decided that she had had enough and wanted to come back home. At this point, she had a son, and Elbein (2020) notes that she wanted her son to have a better life and one outside of Syria. However, the ruling by a judge that she is not an American citizen closed the doors for her return (France-Presse, 2019).

2 Muthana was sold to the ideals of ISIS. She was in support of attacks on the U.S. and is said to have celebrated the burning of her U.S. passport (Robinson, 2021). Her actions or activities came through messages through various social media platforms. For example, on Twitter, she went by the name @UmmJihad and is said to have posted the words “Spill all of their blood” and “Rent a big truck n drive over them. Kill them” (Robinson, 2021). She was trying to stir violence through her social media accounts.
