How the Criminal Justice System Should Manage the Sex Offenders

Sex Offender Types Week 7

Academic research confirms that there are several typologies of sex offenders, including rapists; pedophiles; and female, juvenile, and cyber sex offenders. The typology of a sex offender relates to the level of danger associated with a particular sex offense. The criminal justice system manages sex offenders based on potential danger posed to the public. Low-risk offenders receive less support from the criminal justice system, while high-risk offenders receive more support in an attempt to prevent recidivism. Using sex offender management to monitor sex offenders is an important aspect of criminal justice.

For this Discussion, select two sex offender typologies and consider the types of offenses related to each. Then consider how the criminal justice system ought to manage each type.

With these thoughts in mind:
a description of two types of sex offenders. Then, explain the types of sex offenses each type of offender commits. Finally, explain how the criminal justice system should manage the two types of offenders. Be specific and support your response with references to the Learning Resources.
