Faith and Globalization
Faith is a religious belief in certain doctrines, based on spiritual anxiety other than attestation. Globalization, on the other hand, is the process of how people integrate and interact. Concerning this, the following discussion will analyze Kurtzman's article on American Muslims and the fundamentalists. Kurzman mentions how Islam is viewed in America, and evaluates the issue of terrorism.
In the west, faith is being seen as irrelevant and times being considered as a barrier to meeting certain challenges (Kelly, 2014). Due to this, there is a need to reflect on the relationship that exists between faith and globalization as a way of bringing people back together and maintaining a harmonious co-existence. Globalization has brought about mobility, where people move from one place to another and interact. The constant movement has led to the breakdown of the tribal identities with people settling in areas where there is a total dominance of a different religion (Srinivas, 2010).
Kurtzman in his discussion argues that Islam is an emerging religion in the West. The Islamic faith has been deemed to having a high birth rate and therefore penetrating most parts of the world. In the USA, there has been tension between the Muslims and the Non-Muslim communities (Kurzman, 2013). In almost all mosques in the United States, the Imams are from Middle Eastern Countries, and they find it hard to deal with the American Muslim youths (Kurzman, 2013). The young people are finding themselves engaged in drug abuse, and this is a reason good enough to drive them out of their religious boundaries.
