The first case of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) was decades ago, but the effects of the spread that have occurred all over the world are still present. Worldwide changes in economy, lifestyles, workforce, families, etc. occurred due to the increasing number of persons infected and deaths. AIDS had awakened people regarding the importance of Global Health, and now we are again facing a challenge against another virus, the COVID-19.
Although AIDS and COVID-19 differ in the way their symptoms appear on patients, as well as its mode of transmission, it is the same in the level of fear that it has both instilled in the society. This fear of the virus had caused the need for social distancing and other measures in order to flatten the curve of infected patients.
