                        Sociological imagination   Student’s Name:   Institutional Affiliation: Date:       2016 US Presidential Elections             Assessing the U.S presidential debates, it was evident that there was deep division among the voters. Therefore, the candidates did nothing to influence the voters’ minds to vote in their favor. The media coverage was viewed from an individual’s political affiliation and this made it hard to gauge the mood of the nation. The influence of the media was high and this made the democrats to be less tactical on the ground and they judged the possible election outcomes in relation to the media coverage. The largest numbers of voters were not determined on whether to vote republicans or the democrats and this played the major role in determining the US president (The Guardian, 2016).    Sociological imagination             According  Mills, sociological imagination refers to the vivid awareness that exist between an individual’s experience and the entire society (Mills, 1959). Therefore, the concept of sociological imagination is based on an individual’s understanding that any societal outcome depends on what an individual does to influence the outcome. Individual’s actions are determined by the prevailing social settings, the values an individual has and the influence of people around. This means that sociological imagination is an individual’s status of mind that relates an individual to the society. The outcomes of an individual’s action are determined by the social norms, what an individual gain from an action and the social setting in which they live (Mills, 1959).    Economic system An economic system is based on production, distribution and consumption of goods and services in relation to the levels of development and the existing political ideologies. The United States of America has a mixed economy based on free market economy and a command economy. In USA, market is free for all to access and trade; however, there exist some regulations in the economy that regulate economic activities such as environmental rules and safety rules.
