Predation within the ecosystem is a key element in population dynamics and it simply means that one species uses the other as food. Ideally predation plays a major role influencing the abundance, diversity and distribution of the various ecological communities. In the predator mediated coexistence, the predator plays the role of controlling the prey’s population, while the prey plays the same role in terms of food provision. In this type of predation, the existence of the prey can easily become extinct by way of competition if the predators do not check the populations (McGinley, 2015).
