When politics is at its best, it may be considered as a civilizing activity that results in preservation of peace, advancement of the economic wellbeing, protection of human rights, as well as promote excellence in arts and sciences. On the other hand, politics at its worst, particularly for the people who are on the losing side of the struggle for authority, it may result in a collapse of the economy, tyranny, and barbarism. Politics at its best as well as at its worst shall be discussed by analyzing models in history, political philosophy, and literature.
