Be familiar with each of the labs and concepts completed in the course before starting. The midterm examination covers material in Modules 1 – 4. There are two sections to the midterm, a multiple choice section and an essay section. The exam opens 12:01 AM ET on Monday of Module 4 and closes at 11:59 PM ET Sunday of Module 4. This assignment covers the essay portion of your test.
The essay section consists six essays of which you must choose four (4) to answer completely. Each essay answer should be 300-500 words, formatted according to APA guidelines and the entire examination should be uploaded as a single document. Your answers should by written in your own words, but remember to cite any references that you consult, botht in the text and at the end of the answer.

Compare and contrast Mendelian and non-Mendelian Inheritance.
In contrast, the non-mendelian type of inheritance involves patterns of inheritance whose characteristics do not keep apart. On the other hand, the mendelian inheritance each parent must contribute to one of the two achievable alleles of trait. However, in cases where the genotypes of the parents are familiar in a genetic cross, the distribution of phenotypes can be determined using the mendelian law in order to determine the population (Kaufmann, 2007). In addition, the mendelian law states that the genes of diverse traits can separate during formation of gametes whereas in the non-mendelian they cannot be separated. In terms of dominance, the Mendel's law states that some of the alleles will dominate while others will be recessive. Besides, in the non-mendelian both the incomplete and co dominance are traits in it.
In comparison, both of them refer to the inheritance process that must involve a parent's contribution. Moreover, the two are also associated with a number of diseases that may arise as a result of the gametes taking place. In both the two, alleles of the trait must be produce in order to enable the inheritance process to take place. In addition, in the inheritance process, there is always dominance in the mendelian and non-mendelian (Kaufmann, 2007).

The natural selections refer to the procedures in which individuals are rewarded by the environment due to their better adaptive traits on the environment and with reproductive success. Natural selection involves segments of DNA and genes that program the proteins in our body which serve a major purpose in the functioning of the body. Moreover, according to the research conducted, the genes of a human being are linked to those of a chimpanzee which is considered to be a close relative of humans. Therefore, technology makes humans immune from the natural selection in a number of ways (Endler, 2006). To begin with, technology is diverse and the advancement of technology is done in accordance t the type of the environment involved. This is because the natural selection entails that humans must be adoptive to a particular environment but with technology, human can tamper with the kind of environment that they are living in by coming up with new ideas and by use of gadgets that aids the process.

When comparison the modes of selection. The natural selection can occur in the presence of or even no environmental changes. In this case, the constant environment the status quo is likely to be maintained in the modes of natural selection and the population is also expected to remain stable. In an environment where changes are common, the natural environment will favor some of the variations. This will involve the flexibility in the environment and on how the evolving process will take place. In the natural selection, the species that will always arise or evolve as a result of the adaptation processes (Endler, 2006).
