SOCI 103B Final Exam Long Answer
Weight: 10 Marks. 
10 Marks for Long Answer.
You will have to do 2 long answer questions worth 5 marks per question.
Answers should be 1.5 pages (minimum) for each answer, double spaced and type written. You can submit hand written work if you do not have access to a laptop or tablet. An equivalent in hand writing is a minimum of 350 words per answer.
All direct references to the text must use the citational format outlined below. All instances of improper citation (taking information from the text and presenting it as your own) will result in a minimum 15% deduction to your grade for each time you do it. 
You will upload your long answers to Canvas before you start the multiple choice portion of the exam at 12 noon on 21 April.
You must do your own work. Papers that appear to be largely similar to those of other students will get a minimum 50% deduction. 
Long answers should be developed in the 3 paragraph format that we have worked with all semester. You should have a paragraph that is descriptive, another that explains the social structures or that produced the events you described, and the last should define the importance, significance, or meaning of what you have described. Your grade will be assessed by how well you satisfy all three aspects.
You must include at least one direct reference to a reading in each of your two answers. 
You must write in paragraph form with a focus on one idea, concept, theme, or issue per paragraph: develop the details!
Note: If you opt to hand write your long answers, you must use the Cam Scanner app to put all the pages into one file for uploading to Canvas.

The Migrant worker is a film that analyzes the profiles employees in the greenhouse industry that were brought their seasonal Agricultural workers program in Canada. The video also depicts how a group of men who came from Mexico experienced separations and discriminations yet they were not given a chance to settle in Canada. Additionally, the video also explores the dangerous chemicals and other workplaces dangerous the employees were exposed to yet they were not provided with adequate training. These workers kept on complaining about their working conditions but they faced deportation threats from their employers. Watching this film makes one feel very uncomfortable. How the workers managed to survive in the inhuman working systems (Boyd, Taylor & Delaney, 1986). The workers were affected yet the country kept on sustaining its local food system. Under the agricultural Workers program, there was a lot of exploitation, however, after 15 years, there are changes have been made in the Temporary worker's program. Some of these changes include the low-wage and agricultural brooks that do not experience the same restrictions. Additionally, workers under this program workers from any country can be employed. Workers can also work in several industries in Canada for at least 4 years. The proposed extended stay is very fascinating for workers who work at the greenhouses and whose services run for 12 months. The working conditions of the migrant workers has also been improved. The best part about these changes is that workers do not face legal and social restrictions. Members of different ethnic groups can marry without facing any restrictions. There are no benefits of increased rights like the right to permanent residency, Temporary Worker program has done a good job in improving the working conditions of the migrants.
