Informational Interview Paper – Instructions
Submit a two-page paper with the following information:

Describe your interview: Who did you interview? In what field does the person work? What is the person’s job title? Where did the interview take place? How did you contact the person? Make sure to provide contact information of the person you interviewed. I DO call the people you interview to verify information and thank them for giving you an interview.
IMPORTAN: Only professionals currently working on the field must be interviewed. Abstain from interviewing family members or family friends.
• Submit the questions you asked to the person you interviewed
• Identify two things that you learned from your interview.
• Identify one thing that was difficult or surprising about the interview.
• Write about one thing that you would have done differently before, during or after the interview.

The information interview was conducted to Miss Sonya Perry, a case manager at the Supporting Services for Veteran’s Families (SSVF). Miss Perry’s positions deals with the veterans; she is entitled to ensure that all the veterans without houses, the homeless, and those at risk of losing their houses, are housed by the end of 2016. I settled on the "East Oakland Community Project" through my searches; my initial contact with the organization was through telephone, and I was connected to Miss Sonya Perry. I booked an interview with her on April 8, 2016 and later made a visit to the organization on the said date. The East Oakland Community Project has a physical address that is, 7515 International Blvd, Oakland; Crossroads, shelter; and telephone 510-532-3211.

Two things learned from the interview is one; that you have to be invested in wanting to help people who are in need. Also as a case manager you have to meet clients where they are; mentally, physically and financially. The inquiry about what drove Miss Perry to pursue a case management career; she indicated that the desire to help other members of the society was fundamental. In her case, the desire was inborn, one she had pursued right from high school. I noticed her love for the career based on her responses. As a result, I had no doubt that having the desire to help the needy is vital in helping the needy. In some cases, the desire is a direct result of a person having experienced similar or other unrelated person challenges. As a result, they view the less advantaged in the society as normal people since they have walked a similar path.
Further interactions during the interview made me appreciate the need to assume being in the shoes of the client to know what they are feeling. According to Miss Perry, some clients are highly demoralized and find it difficult to share their problems anymore. They feel that no one cares for them sinc...
