The article on The UN's Failure to Act on Race posits that racism is a plague that has befallen Africans for the longest time. Even with the recent killing of George Floyd, the United Nations took no conclusive stand on race. The author points out that the UN constitutes more African states; hence, it should advocate equal power distribution for global affairs participation. There is no consensus on which countries to give permeant seats though South Africa, Nigeria, and Egypt have more potential. Akonor (2020) posits that the failure to decide on the composition has increased Western countries' influence. While the UNHCR debate addressed the killing of unarmed blacks in the United States, the UN made no efforts to address this subject.
