Why My Project is an Advocacy and Not Activism
My project is a perfect example of advocacy. In particular, advocacy refers to a set of organized actions that are meant to influence public policies, political processes, or social attitudes (The Advocates for Human Rights, 2015). My project intends to convince the senator to sponsor the Children Online Protection Initiative (COPI). Many children and youths are using the Internet today, and they are required to be protected from adverse consequences that come along with the web. If these young individuals are not safeguarded, they might fall victim to cyberbullying, human trafficking, or sexual exploitation.
One of the primary things that advocacy does is to support policies and persuade those in power to implement them at the local, national, and global levels (The Advocates for Human Rights, 2015).
