Legal Controversies: Human trafficking is a crime that affects many countries worldwide. However, human trafficking laws vary by country. This legal system disparity may hinder international cooperation and prosecution of such criminals. Human trafficking, offender penalties, and victim protections vary by country. Prosecuting traffickers is complicated. Due to the crime's secrecy, victims' fear and suffering, and traffickers' movement, collecting evidence in human trafficking cases is difficult (Macy et al., 2023). Law enforcement corruption and collaboration may hinder trafficker prosecution. Legal systems struggle to safeguard human trafficking victims. Trafficking victims may be prosecuted for engaging in unlawful activities like prostitution or work. This reinforces victimization and discourages victims from seeking help.
Social Controversies: Human trafficking victims often face social stigma, discrimination, and marginalization, which worsens their psychological torture and prevents rehabilitation.
