Functions of Representative Assembly
A representative assembly is a small representation of its citizens, and its mandate should be to propagate for the good of the citizens represented. It is termed the most effective way to organize and empower the various interests of citizens for their good and welfare (Mill, 2010). Having representatives is for their well-being and not necessarily on other prior matters that may emerge within the representative tenure (Mill, 2010). The first consideration by any government representative should be to safeguard its citizens who elected them to be representatives. Representative democracy should be exercised through policy initiatives from those selected (Mill, 2010). Having a representative government is a chance to better the democratic level of its subjects by airing their needs and interests rather than direct democracy.
