Introduction
American history describes the US religion as diverse. Christianity takes a larger percentage compared to the other groups, which include the Muslim and the Jewish. Several religious groups have flourished in America. Religion plays a major role in American societies by shaping their spiritual way of life. Religious liberty and tolerance ideals are described as the major US contributor to the national story from different types of religious groups which includes the Catholics the Jews and the Mormons who have experienced segregation at different points in the US religious history. The recent reports from the public claim that there are still some minority religious groups who are still suffering from discrimination and being disadvantaged in one way or the other due to their religious beliefs. Pew Research confirms that Muslim religious groups are the most disadvantaged and discriminated in America (Masci, 2019). The minority religious groups like the Muslims are discriminated against by suspicion and being identified with offensive names in the public areas like in airports. This paper, therefore, aims to comprehensively articulate the mains social conditions minority religious groups in the US face due to their religious beliefs.
Minority group representation
Unlike other countries that have very few religious groups, the United States has the highest number of religious groups. However, the main known religious groups are Judaism, Islamic, and Christianity. Christianity, which comprises both Catholics and protestants takes the majority tittle while Judaism and Islamic are the minority groups. Recent research shows that the political movements have a great say in the issue of religious minority discriminations where the democrats, for example, are more likely to identify discrimination in both the Jews and the Muslims. The Muslims and the Jewish people having no presentations in the federal government has cost them the freedom of worship despite the constitutional amendments on the freedom of worship.
The fact is that Muslim, Jewish, Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists religious groups are experiencing serious challenges to America's self-understanding (Parrillo, 2021). The reality of the whole issue concerning how the Americans respond to religious diversity remains a big problem due to the existence of the 70% Christians who take the bigger portion while the other small religious groups take 30% (Parrillo, 2021). The kind of discrimination that occurs in these groups mostly comes out of religious battles where the majority groups always want to show them that they are the main dominant of the US religious platforms and having any other belief denies them a chance to be the party of America. Although the amendments to the constitution give a right to worship these minority groups are still facing indirect attacks from the other big religious groups.
