Roles of the Counselor & Client

In the structural family therapy, the role of the counsellor is largely to join the family system which is in question and take out the various elements that causing the conflict. Then replace with the right practices that are going to help the family to grow as a complete unit. This means changing the current practices to better ones that are constructive (Minuchin, 1974).

The rational emotive behavior therapy on the other hand, the counselor’s role involves uncovering the irrational beliefs which may lead to unhealthy practice in the individual and replace them with productive ones (Mulhauser, 2014).
