Week 5 Discussion: Families and Social Inequality

From this week’s Learning Resources, we can see that social inequality in society has harsh impacts on families and that inequality within families can also have negative impacts on its members. Choose one of the following two questions to answer, and use at least on of this week’s Learning Resources; in addition to the Learning Resource, please feel free to use additional resources if that’s helpful.

Give an example of how social inequality in society may negatively affect families.  What are the possible long-term consequences of this inequality?

How might inequality between partners affect their relationship?  In particular, how might the division of household labor affect partners, and how might equity be possible?  (If you would prefer to examine a different form of inequality within families, that would be fine too.)

In your response, please refer specifically to at least one of this week's course Learning Resources, citing it in the text and also listing the full reference information at the end of your post, using APA citation style.
