Race is said to be a social construction, this basically translates to that it is not a factual thing. Most of us associate race with our ancestral origins and culture but in our daily lives we are surrounded with people of different backgrounds. We can see a Caucasians with a light skinned color, blue eyes and blonde hair. They have adopted a son with medium brown skinned, dark brown eyes, coarse brown hair and with both African and Asian features. Most people think the boy is biracial with others saying the father is an Asian while others black. Therefore, race is not a real thing, it is socially constructed. It reflects who you are and what your perceptions are. So when people the dark skinned adopted son of a Caucasian, they will make assumptions based on what they see and think is true.
Despite the fact that race and ethnicity often overlap does not mean that they one thing, they are distinct. Race is biological whereas ethnicity is cultural. However, despite races belonging to the same species, they have minor genetic and morphological differences. These variations vary across the globe and they are responsible for the diverse physical differences.
