Democracy Theory Name: Institution: Course: Date: Democracy Theory Democracy is a concept that has varying degrees of definition relative to the party one questions. In philosophy it is not any different as various renowned scholars in the field have varying approaches. Of important in this paper are three main philosophers, Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, and Rousseau, and their take on democracy; their differences and the crisis of the democracy theory. One of the most interesting approaches is that of Hobbes, who essentially does not believe in democracy, or at best that it is a theory which will not work. His views of the notion that democracy cannot work are tied to the two main conditions which he indicates in the Philosophy Rudiments; that there must be acceptance of the will of the majority and that there must be an agreement to regularly meet at a specific place.
