History and narrative are interrelated. History is powerful – it tells about the past and can influence the present and the future. History tells people about past events and their significance. A narrative, on the other hand, is a literary genre that tells a story that may be fictional or not. Some people write about what happened in history, and that process is called history writing. The details must be valid and significant in history writing, specifically in biblical form. The writers do not include facts only; instead, they also have their interpretations. Thus, historical narratives are complex and must be carefully assessed to be true and accurate. In conclusion, history affects the details and facts in the narratives.
One good example of a historical narrative is the book of Isaiah, specifically in chapters thirty-six and thirty-seven (New International Version, Isaiah 36-37). These chapters contain several miracles. The bible verse that follows is an example of one miracle that happened in the passage, "Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp" (Isaiah 37:36). This is a miracle since there is a single being against thousands of people. Thus, the events here can be considered historical since, in the other parts of the Bible, there are many stories about the Lord's miracles. Some dead people rise again, blind persons able to see again, mute persons able to speak, and deaf persons able to hear again. The incidents mentioned beforehand mean that they are true stories that existed in the past, or, in a nutshell, they are part of history.
