Marcus, a computer engineer, finds himself in a huge dilemma. This is after the marketing department of the company he works for makes a request that does not sit well with him. The request requires him to divulge private and confidential information about his clients. If he budges to the request, he feels that he will be violating the privacy of his clients, which he should otherwise protect. In addition, he perceives that he will be abdicating his mandate of being responsible to the people who use his technology (Bartlett, 2015). On the other hand, Marcus understands that withholding the crucial information would potentially deny the company an opportunity to scale up sales and profitability. His decision might put him at crossroads with the management, who might even cancel his contract.

Being the one who developed the app, Marcus and his company have access to this crucial and confidential information. Marcus is torn between playing along and refusing outright, the consequences notwithstanding.
