This I Believe: Parental Love

This I believe essay. Needs to illustrate a personal belief that shapes your daily life. The audience should read the story and see through active description how your belief emerged from the experience. This should be a short narrative essay. The essay should have a good lead, a sentence or two that draws your reader in and sets up the topic. The thesis statement must explain your belief and guide your essay. The essay must be around two pages and formatted as follows; Times New Roman, double spaced, one inch margins all around. Have an original title centered at the top of the essay.
I would like this to be done about being a surrogate. I would like to take some key points from the following:
Have you ever thought about what it’s like to be a kangaroo? How cool would it be to grow a baby in your pouch? A surrogate sort of get’s to experience what it’s like to be a kangaroo.
A surrogate is a woman that carries a baby for someone else. In order to be a surrogate you have to have a child or children of your own. You also need to pass all medical tests to show you’re healthy enough to carry another baby.
I was a surrogate in 2020. I gave birth to a baby boy in November for a male-male couple from Israel. I chose to be a surrogate because I believe everyone deserves to experience parenthood regardless of how they sexually identify. I believe everyone deserves to experience the unconditional love a child can give.
The couple I had the baby for could have adopted a child but by using me, their surrogate, they were able to have a baby that had a biological connection to one of the fathers.
After the birth I expressed breastmilk to help nourish the baby while they remained in Canada. Once they went back home to isreal I continuted to express breastmilk and donated it to the Roger Hixon Milk Bank of Ontario as well as donating to a local mother who needed it to help feed her twin girls. I wouldnt have been able to do this had I not been pregnant and given birth.
I still remain in contact with the family I helped to create and hope to carry on this relationship in the future. The experience changed me as a person and made me a better person because of it.
