Functionalism is a sociological theory that tries to delineate why society works the way it does by emphasizing engagements between various social institutions that comprise the community (Odunga, n.d.). Structuralism is an intellectual inclination seeking to comprehend and delineate social reality via social structures. Structuralism reiterates that the primary goal of psychology is to study the frame of consciousness and mind.
