The roles of the Frontal Lobes in Memory
The frontal lobe is the anterior part of the brain that extends from behind the forehead to the precentral gyrus. It has numerous roles like controlling memory, emotions, impulse, and initiating social interaction. One of the key functions of the frontal lobe is speech and language production. The frontal lobe has Broca's area that is tasked with putting thoughts into words. When the area is damaged, one encounters speaking challenges, the ability to understand language effectively and to produce speech that makes sense (deliberate telegraphic speech) (Han, 2017). The Broca area is composed of two rejoins, the pars opercularis and the pars triangularis. It is linked to other brain parts by a neuronal tract called acute fasciculus.
