Peer reviewed journal articles are authoritative sources of information for research reports. The abstract section captures different aspects of the article in one paragraph. The researcher chooses the most effective methodology using either a qualitative or quantitative study design (Breakwell, 2010). In the discussion they may include the limitations of study and then highlight implications of the research. The first component is title page followed by abstract, introduction, method section, results, discussion, and references. Writing for the graduate level also uses a similar frame with the thesis being closest to a research paper. Standard language level course writing requires academic writing skills since academic research is necessary for professional writing. Similar to scholarly writing, the writer uses evidence to back up claims including articles while also being objective rather than using opinions.
