College students struggle to balance academic and personal obligations. Accordingly, students can struggle to manage their time between classes, jobs, clubs, and friends. According to Spielman, Jenkins, and Lovett (2020), confirmation bias can influence decision-making in such circumstances, causing individuals to give undue weight to tasks that align with their preexisting beliefs or preferences, often at the expense of more pressing matters. Furthermore, students can also misprioritize tasks due to the availability heuristic, which bases decisions on readily available information or recent experiences. Thus, understanding the role of these biases in one's decision-making and academic performance is crucial for college students.
In addition, intelligent minds can be stimulated in the classroom by reading widely, having open discussions, and solving challenging problems.
