Leo Kanner later conducted additional research on Autism. He came up with infantile Autism (also called childhood schizophrenia in those earlier days), which described similar behavior he observed in eleven-year-old children he was studying (Fitzgerald, 2018). The 1980s saw an improvement in research and diagnostic criteria for ASD in children, such as behavioral therapy, which majored in controlled learning environments and positive rewards.
