Reflection 2:
According to Daniel Pink, there are three important elements in motivation – autonomy, mastery, and purpose.
Autonomy: “the course of human history has always moved in the direction of greater freedom. And there is a reason for that – because it is our nature to push for that” - Richard Ryan (Drive, p. 106).
Mastery: “People are more likely to reach a flow state at work than in leisure. Work can often have the structure of other autotelic experiences: clear goals, immediate feedback, and challenges well-matched to our abilities” – Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (Drive, p.127).
Purpose: “The most deeply motivated people – not to mention those who are most productive and satisfied-hitch their desires to a cause larger than themselves” – Daniel Pink, (Drive, p.131).
Given what you know about these three elements, pick a person (talk about my direct report employee, in an architecture firm how I want him to move from being just task-oriented into become more of a self-starter and taking a more entrepreneurial approach to decision making) you want to motivate and brainstorm how you increase the opportunity for autonomy, mastery, and purpose for you or them. Name what behavior are you trying to motivate and how you would you create an opportunity to increase autonomy, mastery, and purpose for you or them.

Motivation and Entrepreneurial Approach
There is no doubt that every successful person depends on inventive ideas and sound strategies in their day-to-day plans. Ideally, this implies that personal perspective determines the output of individuals. This scheme is the entrepreneurial approach in viewing life, where input needs to have a greater output for the enterprise. A report found out that an overall two-third of employees would welcome the chance to take on 'an entrepreneurial role' within a firm. Unfortunately, only less than 15 percent of employers would appreciate or facilitate this behavior. The entrepreneurial approach goes far beyond simple active involvement in shaping an organization to diversify its culture. It is paramount for employees to move from being task-oriented and adopt a more entrepreneurial approach in changing behaviors such as monotony of design and 'rigid work goals.'
What it takes
As start-up companies expand, it is easier for employees' entrepreneurial spirit to wane. However, in the architecture sector, most companies/ firms are already established. In this case, for the direct employee to adopt an entrepreneurial approach, they should pay attention to attracting, engaging, and breathing the organization's manager's or founders' principles. It limits the extent of their innovativeness. They have to adopt the five secrets to entrepreneurialism concerning their autonomy, mastery, and purpose in this context.
To start with, the employee must care about purposeful profit. They should endeavor to instill desirable and sustainable values throughout their firms. This purposeful profit distances the employee/ related parties from the uncaring physiognomy of the corporates. Secondly, the employee should appreciate the 'One part entrepreneurial= 20 parts impact' scheme. Generally, it encourages starter entrepreneurs that they are not limited in achieving their dreams. Architecture is a diverse 'community' that extends to infinite horizons. For this employee, this scheme inspires them to extend the entrepreneurial limits.
Concerning mastery (Immediate feedback), it is significant for the employee to recognize the third secret; 'Deep and deliberate co-creation with customers.' Clients are an integral part of an entrepreneurial strategy. It does facilitate one-sided communication and aids the active involvement of customers in shaping the business. This strategy has an outcome of keeping the business and brand fresh.
