In most instances, our interests are associated with some things we had in the past. Similarly, my interest in counseling can also be traced to my experiences. For instance, they were shaped when I suffered a psychological problem and lacked the solution for the problem I had. For example, there was an instance where I was diagnosed with bulimia nervosa and looked for mental health support. However, most people blamed me when seeking treatment, calling me weak and dramatic. Other people were making sarcastic comments that I acted like a baby, which was aiming for attention. Similar to most people, these struggles had a huge impact on my life. However, in most instances, most people quit after having these experiences. However, I was different since rather than quitting, I became interested in creating measures to help achieve an excellent curricular pathway that could help students with similar experiences.
My interest in counseling and preparedness in the curricular pathway was shaped by the problems that I was experiencing. For instance, there was a gap in unprofessional outcomes caused by the mismatch between content and students' intentions. This instance was causing most professional counselors to have low confidence in working with clients during diagnosis. I will bridge this gap in my curricular pathway since it will help reform the counseling field. Furthermore, the Simple Psychology internship enabled me to learn strategies and employ skills for conflict resolution.
