Drug Addiction
After going through the learning materials, I have realized the extent of opioid addiction and how the issue does not only involve the individuals and their families, but the government, various social groups, and the community as well. The video showed the reality behind the experiences of people beyond the crimes they commit or the punishment that is given to them. These taught me that creating programs that are holistic, humane, and promote healing in all aspects of being a human person, is a truly effective way of addressing this opioid epidemic. I also see that the individuals who are suffering from drug addiction should not be viewed as the enemy, instead, they should be helped by the community to heal and also drop the baggage that they are carrying within them that makes them want to escape and hate life.
