There exist two primary types of differential reinforcement procedures. These include Differential Reinforcement of Incompatible Behavior (DRI) and Differential Reinforcement of Alternative Behavior (DRA). DRI involves ensuring that a behavior incompatible with the problem is reinforced. In this aspect, the reinforcement for the problem behavior is withheld. The effect on behavior is that reinforcing the incompatible behavior makes it difficult for one to engage in problem behavior (Trump et al., 2020).
