Creating a Token Economy for a 4-Year-Old Girl: Administering a Stimulus Preference Assessment
Administering a stimulus preference assessment determines which stimuli, such as items, activities or events, are most preferred by an individual. This assessment is primarily used to identify potential reinforcers that can be applied in a behaviour intervention plan, such as a token economy or a behavioural contract. The idea is to present individuals with several stimuli and purposefully observe their response to determine which stimuli most apply to them (Miltenberger, 2015). Ideally, the most potent stimuli will be the most preferred. Additionally, the different methods of conducting a stimulus preference assessment include single stimulus presentation, paired stimuli presentation, and multiple stimuli presentation with or without replacement. The following evaluation presents a token economy for a 4-year-old girl.
