The topic of research is “The major cause of suicide among adolescents.” The hypothesis is that adolescents’ inability to cope with life’s challenges leads to depression, which causes them to commit suicide. The three articles I am reviewing are critical for the hypothesis. The article examines the issue of suicide and adolescents from different perspectives. They demonstrate that suicide among adolescents has numerous causes. Using the conclusions derived from the articles, I will be in a better position to explore the topic extensively and come up with results that can be extrapolated to a wider population.
Pandey et al.’s (2019) topic is “Factors associated with suicidal ideation and suicidal attempts among adolescent students in Nepal: Findings from Global School-based Students Health Survey.” The research hypothesis is that anxiety, loneliness, truancy, cigarette use, and gender are associated with suicidal attempts. The dependent variables are depression and suicide concerns, while the independent variables include sex, race and ethnicity, insurance type, and income. Here, the investigators determine how the independent variables and the pandemic have contributed to increased cases of suicide.
For Pandey et al. (2019), the method used to obtain data is GSHS questionnaires. The sample population consisted of 6,531 students using a cluster sampling method. A multivariance logistic regression was undertaken to determine the factors associated with suicide ideation and attempt. The researchers utilized TRATA software to undertake the analysis. About 13.59% of the subjects had considered suicide, while 10.33% had attempted suicide. The risk factors for suicide were food insecurity, anxiety, loneliness, and gender. The risk factors of suicide attempts were anxiety, loneliness, truancy, cigarette use, and gender. The study, therefore, demonstrates th...
