**Some info about my relationship: I have been in my current relationship for almost 18 years. We "dated" for 4.5 years before getting married. We get along very well with the occasional argument about typical relationship issues (money, kids, etc.). The Adult Attachment Style Mini-Questionnaire revealed that I have a secure attachment with my current relationship. According to the Secure Attachment Style by Bowlby, individuals with this style experienced independence from their parents while receiving support from them in times of need. Moreover, these children confide in and prefer them over strangers (Hong & Park, 2012). As adults, they develop good self-esteem, allowing for comfortable and dependable relationships (Cassidy et al., 2013).
The result of the questionnaire is commendable as it applies to my current relationship. Specifically, the following criteria are valid to our bond: 1) Attempting to fulfill the necessities of my partner (i.e., physical, mental, emotional) while having the freedom to vocalize mine; 2) Protecting my partner from events that might harm him/her; 3) Showing our affections to one another without hesitation; 4) Looking at my partner with kindness; 5) Respecting our individual and couple privacy.
