Personal Perspective on Case Study of Arab / Middle Eastern Americans
Over the years that I have watched the media present American correlation with Arab/ Middle Eastern Americans, I have had a negative mindset like the rest of the world regarding how people of Arab descent perceive others. It has been negative. The research study conducted by Awad (2010) has scientific validity in the methodologies and findings concluded. Based on the scientific approaches used in the study, my perception of Arab/Middle Eastern Americans has changed. From viewing them as all Muslim followers to a greater percentage being Christians, the study offers significant evidence that, when laid to the public, could reduce the stigma, racism, and misconceptions that the majorities hold against the minority community. Additionally, I find the study progressive from how it reports more comprehensive American view of the culture of the Arab Americans.
The study has incorporated incredible knowledge concerning how historical events shape the future of societies and human interactions. At first, the study traces the negativity meted upon the Arab Americans due to the events of September 11th, 2001, when the Al-Qaida group bombed the Pentagon. Although thousands of Arab Americans were innocent of the terror atrocities meted on the innocent Americans, people from the Middle East were then branded negative connotations like Jihadists and treated with contempt nearly worldwide.
