Individuals’ cultural beliefs, ideas, practices, norms, and values shape their emotions. Humans are emotional creatures (Module 5, 2022). In particular, a make-believe culture entails developing an imaginary culture that is used for the purpose of study only. A good example is the Batue culture. The best thing about using a make-believe culture is that it eliminates the emotional jargon that is present in an actual cultural group. Emotions separate one culture from another since people from a specific group react to things in a unique way. The paper focuses on how the use of a make-believe culture removes an emotional response that is examined in real cultural groups in society. In addition, it shows how numbers guide people’s emotional response to information.
Indeed, using a make-believe culture removes the emotional response present in real cultural groups in society. Humans are unique and different from other species since they portray emotional responses. For instance, when individuals lose their loved ones, they mourn to express bad feelings. Positive things make people laugh and become happy. When considering a make-believe culture, emotional responses attached to cultural ideas, beliefs, values, norms, and practices are eradicated. Researchers use mathematics to study the imaginary culture and portray things that would be hard to show using an actual culture.
