Introduction
The significance of the U.S. millitary noncommissioned officers (NCOs) dates back to the Continental Army’s creation in 1775. Like the Continental Army, the first noncommissioned officers did not adopt the design of the British Army but rather used the traditions of the French, the British, and the Prussian soldiers to establish a unique institution. As the U.S political and economic system evolved over the years, the NCO Corps consistently differentiated itself from its counterparts as well. As a result, rather than just facilitating the training of young officers, marine staff NCOs ensure that each training session reflects the scope and severity of potential security threats. Consequently, some marine staffs NCOs have focused on developing training events that provide a planned framework for individual soldiers and units to train under conditions that resemble actual threats.
Enabling mission command
Marine staffs NCOs enable mission command by supporting their commanders and leading young officers. In military operations, mission command refers to the accomplishment of tasks, actions, or procedures through decentralized execution guided by mission-type orders. Mission command relies on certain human elements such as ...
