Planning is among the most critical phases of a project since it determines its future success. To ensure I involve all the stakeholders in the project, I would follow the following steps:
Step 1: Get a clear understanding of the Subject Matter.
A clear understanding is necessary to ensure the project runs smoothly to provide the crucial new service. Reading appropriate books and articles, talking to people in the organization and experts who have managed similar projects will help understand the project better.
Step 2: Determine the goal of the Project
The project goal refers to the summary of its purpose. It offers clarity and motivates the stakeholders. Also, it stipulates what should be achieved by the project. A perfect project goal results from evaluating the positive results expected from a specific task. All customers and project sponsors gather to discuss their expectations hence creating a short sentence summarizing the goal.
Step 3: Make a list of Tasks and Deliverables
Managing a project can be overwhelming. The best approach to overcome the initial paralysis is splitting the project into smaller segments. As a project manager, I would establish a list indicating the tasks and project deliverables required to attain the project goal. Project managers should not ignore any task regardless of size (Kissflow Project, 2020). Also, I would figure out how the team members will execute the jobs. Planning the entire project flow while listing all the activities to be implemented is critical for the success of a project. Determining the necessary tasks and individuals responsible for specific charges helps break down tasks by project phase.
