The company I am familiar with that will be the subject of this post is Amazon. Amazon is one of the world’s biggest technology companies, and HR planning has been instrumental in its success so far. One short-term strategy of the company is protecting the health and safety of its workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is important to recognize that while the pandemic has toppled many businesses around the world, sales boomed for Amazon as more people shifted to online shopping. To keep up with increased orders during this period, the company had to hire additional 175,000 employees across the country (Amazon Staff, 2020). Therefore, before the pandemic ends, its key short-term strategy is to ensure the employees’ health and safety are protected as they help meet the surging customer demand.
