Resource Scheduling is a significant phase in project management. This phase ensures efficient and effective utilization of the available resources. It provides confidence that the project is realistic and helps in the early identification of resource capacity constrictions. It is important to develop techniques that can be used to analyze the resources required to deliver a project successfully. The resources are mostly scarce in supply and so requires extreme techniques for effective and efficient utilization. Therefore, the project development team of project Nickie is tasked with using various methods of resource scheduling to ensure the project objectives are successfully delivered using the available resources .
Concepts of Resource Scheduling
The concepts of resource scheduling involve maintaining a balance between the available resources and the activities to be completed because there is a need to ensure the available resources are sufficient to meet the project demands. Resource scheduling is a collection of techniques used to calculate the resources required to deliver the work and the time they will be require. It involves methods such as resource smoothing, resource leveling, and multi-project scheduling that can be used by the organization to organize and structure their employees so that the projects they need to complete are scheduled, with appropriate start and end dates for each task based on availability of the resources. Resource scheduling can be used to track project estimation and outcomes, and analyze how well the resources are being utilized in a particular project (Brako et al., 2017).
Methods of Resource Scheduling
Resource smoothing. This method considers all dimensions of the project and works within the time frame that has been set by the organization. This can be used to reschedule the activities while maintaining the finish date of the project. This method can be used to schedule any critical activities. It's beneficial in finding the most significant activity that is yet to be scheduled and to adjust the early and late timeframe of unscheduled activities (Gordon & Tulip, 1997). 
Resource Levelling. The method is used in removing peaks and troughs from a schedule produced by a previous procedure. It improves the output of the previous procedures. It ensures that the resource demanded does not exceed the availability by putting a strict limit on the available resources. It is beneficial in identifying the activities scheduled to be in progress at the same time. It helps in moving one of the schedules to reduce the peak and return to the beginning of the cycle. However, resource leveling is one of the most complicated methods to program (Gordon & Tulip, 1997).
