1. Critically evaluate the dynamics of corporate governance of NMC and Finblr in the light of two appropriate theories of ethics (Right ethics, Aristotle’s virtue ethics, and Kantian moral philosophy)
At NMC and Finablr, there was failure of corporate governed and protecting the rights of all stakeholders where uncovering fraud that had gone on for some time indicates that there were gaps. Transparency, fairness, assurance and stakeholder management are essential components of good corporate governance. In Aristotle’s virtue ethics, the philosopher argues the case for being virtuous and doing good where there is also the quest to live a moral life. Aristotle’s perspective emphasizes people’s moral character and highlights that people acquire virtue through practice such as practicing honesty and justice based on virtue ethics.
The Boards of Directors at NMC and Finablr need to take their oversight role more seriously and preferably have management experience in the companies’ businesses sectors and knowledge of accounting and finance.
