Ergonomics Report
Bob Sanders (your supervisor) has another job for you to complete for BSCI. This time, you have been asked to examine the ergonomic details at Acme Manufacturing Co. Specifically, Acme Manufacturing Co. has asked you to conduct an ergonomic evaluation of the packing line. Given the following worksheet (see the link below to download the worksheet), calculate the (1) RWL and (2) the Lifting Index. Using the data and results, provide your written recommendations for corrective action against strenuous lifting tasks performed by employees to reduce risks and to prevent injuries.
Respond to the details in each section, and format your report in APA style. Include at least each of the following in your report for this unit:
-Introduction—briefly describe why the studies were performed (why you started the study).
-Report details—briefly discuss the details of the scenario (what you found from the study).
-Conclusions and recommendations—briefly describe your recommendations based on your findings (what you recommend to resolve any deficiencies).
-Appendix—Measurements and calculations (show your work).
-At least one page (double-spaced) in length (not including the reference page and appendices).
Prepare your report in a word-processing application (i.e., Word) using APA formatting for all references and in-text citations.

UNIT 8 Ergonomics Report
In the report the NIOSH Lifting Equation results, there is determination of the Recommended Weight Limit (RWL) a Lifting Index (LI) using different multipliers. The NIOSH Lifting Equation reflects the risks associated with lifting and lowering tasks, and this is reflected in the RWL.
Introduction
In the occupational, ergonomic report there is a calculation of the Recommended Weight Limit (RWL) a Lifting Index (LI) to determine whether there is a risk of or a manual lifting job at Acme manufacturing. The RWL reflects the maximum acceptable weight or load that an employee can carry during the normal working time without increasing the risk of injury. The LI is the object weight divided by the RWL. The calculations are important to estimate the hazard of an injury when considering lifting activities in the workplace. The workers are involved in strenuous lifting tasks and this increases the risks of injuries.
Report details
RWL and lifting index
The RWL is determined based on the multiplication of the multiples of the horizontal location, vertical location, travel distance, angle of asymmetry, coupling, and lifting frequency multiples. The lifting index reflects an estimate of physical stress when there is a manual lifting task and depends on the RWL and the weight of the load being lifted (Yates, 2015). The lifting index in both the origin and the decision is between 1 and 3, which indicates that there is a risk of lifting injury or low back injury. The lifting index is 1.25 for the origin and 1.93 for the destination.
Conclusions and recommendations
There is a need to consider controls to reduce the risk of low back and lifting injuries so that the workers can safely perform the lifts. The horizontal multiplier (HM) factor for the origin was 0.67which was the lowest and indicates greater the hazard of risk associated with the horizontal distance. Similarly, the horizontal multiplier for the destination is lowest at 0.50. The horizontal location needs to be 10 inches or below for the multiplier to be 1.00. Thus, if we changed the horizontal multiplier at both the origin and destination and added better hand hold...
