Reflection: Nature and Role of Change Management
Change management forms a significant part of enhancing organizational operations by instituting innovative actions. However, this process is very complex and challenging to implement due to the numerous stakeholders that have to be involved correctly. However, if strategically implemented, change can be the pioneer of outstanding achievements for the organization in the long run. Change requires a new perspective on external and internal factors that directly affect the business. This means that all stakeholders, from employees to suppliers, should be assessed to develop an appropriate plan that will incur minimal disruptions to their work (Practical planned change - Structure and contract, 2021). Learning about change management has provided a new perspective on how it can be implemented efficiently in organizations by leveraging innovation and technology. Therefore, change management requires cooperation and an understanding of the environment to develop a structured approach to transition to better working conditions.
Implementing Change Management
Changes in organizations commonly face resistance due to the disruptions it causes employees who may be used to working in a particular way. Therefore, before implementing new strategies in the organization, there is a need to define and create a broad understanding of change. People tend to react better when they understand the reasons behind decisions likely to affect them. Therefore, developing a shared need and the ultimate vision of the outcome can significantly reduce any forms of resistance towards these changes.
Apart from that, another important aspect during the implementation phase is the monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the strategies employed to integrate the changes into the organization. Sometimes, while the intention for such changes might be good, the process used may create other problems, thus making it more challenging to implement the changes effectively. Monitoring can further identify issues at early stages allowing contingencies to be applied, thus reducing time wastage later on during the process. More so, it is better to identify problems and deal with them early to avoid laying blame on the persons in charge of the change management process (Practical planned change - Structure and contract, 2021). A review of the process further enhances the change management process since an assessment is done considering the initial goals and objectives of the implementation. This determines whether the changes align with the organization's vision and mission and have brought the intended changes as expected.
Gaining feedback is also an essential part of the change management process, where stakeholders' opinions are considered before and during implementation. All the views are important, and they should be accepted and treated accordingly in a professional manner to ensure that the views of each individual are respected and valued (Practical planned change - Structure and contract, 2021).
