I have once worked with a leader who made me feel that I was more important than they. This sparked a sensation that made me feel important and valued to the organization, and that my contributions are needed and appreciated. It also made me feel motivated and encouraged to work even harder. This occurred in a manufacturing industry where the production manager was indeed a servant leader. His leadership system saw a lot of improvement in terms of quality and quantity of products within a short time. Employees were cooperative, encouraged, and motivated to work.
Humility allows leaders to value the diverse opinions of their juniors, encouraging them to volunteer their contributions and even seek their opinions regularly. Humble leaders are good in cultivating the culture of trust, and this reduces workers gossiping and encourages honesty and teamwork (Havard, 2007).
